Does the two week wait from ovulation to the end of the cycle tend to drive you nuts? Do you feel like you climb aboard a train going out of control with your emotions?
Trying to conceive can be stressful if you’ve tried for several months or longer and not succeeded. There’s nothing like spending those two weeks wondering if you conceived, avoiding medications and alcohol. Anxiously waiting for the moment when you can secretly take that pregnancy test. Come on, I know you test way too early. It’s so tempting now, with the affordable price of pregnancy tests, to test as early as one week past ovulation. But you see that single line and you fret and get angry, sad, upset. I understand, I was there one time myself. It’s a crazy time of the month.
When I was trying to conceive I both dreaded and looked forward to the two week wait, when I’d wonder if that precious baby would be growing in my belly. Every little symptom I’d obsess over, every twitch, cramp, sensation, craving and mood I’d wonder “Is this a sign of pregnancy?” More times than not it wasn’t. Talk about an emotional rollercoaster. I would remember fondly the times when I didn’t know my body so well. (When you learn to chart your fertility signs you become very acquainted with all the intimate details of your reproductive cycle.)
So the question remains, how do we get through these two weeks of waiting? The key is not to obsess about what’s happening inside your body. This is tough, I know. Once you see that rise in temperature that confirms ovulation, you begin to realize that it is possible that a baby is growing in there and thus starts the rollercoaster ride.
This is the best time to busy your mind elsewhere. Try not to think of what could be going on inside your body. IF you are pregnant, you will find out soon enough. Start a project that takes 10 days to 2 weeks to complete. This way your mind will be on your project and not obsessing about possibly being pregnant. Time will go by faster too.
What types of projects you decide to do is up to you. What do you like to do? Crochet? Sew? Paint? Perhaps you could start a home improvement project. Or even something as easy as reading a new book or books. The point is to busy your mind, so your body will relax and do what it’s designed to do, make a baby!
