[...] Q: What happens if my cycle starts before day 26? A: If your cycle should end before day 26 simply begin counting to day 5 and begin again. This may happen to many because of short luteal phases. That means that you have not been producing enough progesterone in your eggs for some time and therefore you have been operating on estrogen overshadowing the progesterone and your cycle may have seemed longer. The correct amount of progesterone will begin to right things. Often times one finds that with the supplementation the cycles are shorter because your body is getting proge2sterone to oppose the estrogen. This is just enough for those who are very estrogen dominant to oppose the estrogen and cause break through bleeding. Beyond Fertility . com has a category all about Understanding The Fertility Cycle [...]

There is nothing wrong with you except that you are very likely pregant. Unprotected sex a few times a month will cause pregnancy; it only takes once. Unprotected sex every day means that you most likely are. Another reason for spotting can be sexually transmitted disease which is also likely since you are unprotected and it seems maybe not married. That means that you might not have only had one partner over time which makes it a good deal likely. Consider what this will mean if you are not ready for a baby or if you are TTC then rejoice. Either way, please be careful.

First I would be wrong if I didn't implore you to use condoms since I despise birth control pills and they protect again STDs. You need to know how truly lovely and loved you were made to be and take care of yourself. I say that in love; no condemnation. Don't wind up a statistic and you are heading that way. Having unprotected sex after your period is asking to become pregnant; don't be surprised if you become so.

As for your question: In your situation I do not believe you are pregnant unless you have become so since your last period. Your bleeding is at a time that you would be ovulating which makes it more chance that you either have mittelschmerz - a little blood from ovulation - or - you should check to see if you contracted any STD. It takes between 2 and 3 weeks for them to manifest.

The two that would show bleeding if you had any symptoms would be: Trichomoniasis which includes vaginal spotting and burning sensation when urinating. Neither symptom has to show at first for you to have this.
PID is a bacteria that can cause spotting as a first sign. It becomes painful and eventually if left untreated can lead to infertility.

Hope this is helpful. Do you WANT to become pregnant? Does your partner want that? Take care of yourself Jen.

I got my period June 22, it wasn't heavy, no cramps or anything. July 3 I started bleeding but then it stopped like right there and then... so I thought. I noticed I was spotting very light blood, pinkish for about 2 more days, and then it stopped. I'm not on birth control, and yes I've had unprotected sex almost every day before and after my period. I would say my stress level is normal, nothing out of the ordinary. So I'm wondering... is there something seriously wrong with me?

I have had regular periods since Dec. of 2010. That is until May when I thought my period was coming early (two days) and continued to spot of 3 WEEKS! On the 11th day of spotting I went to PP and the Nurse practitioner did a pelvic exam and checked me for stds. Tests were negative. Let me just say I am sexually active with one partner. Committed relationship. We have one son and have been trying to have another. I was on the depo shot for almost a yr when I was due to get the shot again I declined and that was Dec 09. Now in June I thought as the nurse practitioner told me that I would probably start my period as usual but alas no period just spotting and it didn't come til the last day of the month. So I went back to dr at a different PP location and she tested me for pregnancy. I'm not. Took blood to check my thyroid and did my pap. Waiting for results. What is wrong with me? Shouldn't I be pregnant by now. I've had two pregnancies one live birth one still birth so I have been able to conceieve. Why problems now? Just driving me bonkers. Any help greatly appreciated!

If you are dry then it means you are on too strong a dose of BCPs. Check with your doctor. If you are dry "there" it will dry your whole body out and you might want to stop and ponder if you have been drying in your nose, eyes and in general. At this time of year, allergies can be the reason for dryness also but not USUALLY there. It is generally a low estrogen thing.

Hello Scared,

If you ovulated early then you should know by now that you may very well be pregnant with those symptoms. Since the pill allows you to get pregnant and then forces a miscarriage it is likely that your signs are real. You would have ovulated around between the 15th and the 20th in order to be pregnant. That means by June 29th you would be close to 2 weeks pregnant if so. I felt strong symptoms of pregnancy at only 7 days pregnant and it happens a lot like that. I am sorry to say that if you are pregnant there is a good chance that the pill will cause you to miscarry but since you are newly on the pill I cannot make any prediction about that. It is now July 6th so you either know by now or should be taking a test if you still feel that way. Try our store if you need supplies but be careful and don't test things. Consider condoms. Even pulling out early does not insure you are safe; it is a myth. blessings, brenda
